SAINT KENTIGERN OLD COLLEGIANS' PIPE BAND
Competition Win
Each year, on the last day of November, all good Scots and those of Scottish descent mark St Andrew's Day. It's also the time for the start of the summer piping season with the Auckland Highland Games which are held at the Three Kings Domain. In their first major public outing, The Old Collegians' Pipe Band made a clean sweep of the Grade 4 competition, in a large field of local bands and others from as far afield as Tauranga and Te Kuiti. The band also attracted a lot of public attention in their smart new (Ancient MacFarlan) kilts, which have been funded by the Old Collegians'. With the support of the Association, the band aims to further promote the Saint Kentigern name in the wider community.
What would you save if the ship was sinking?
...Whisky or Rum? The age old Captain's Dilemma was the subject of a 'spirited' debate during an entertaining Whisky and Rum tasting held in the Elliot Street Stables. In the end, Rum was no match for the fine Single Malts which had the support of our Old Collegians' Pipe Band.
The entry of the pipers in full Saint Kentigern Old Collegians' Pipe Band uniform, took other guests by surprise at the bar, a welcome surprise, nevertheless!
